Visit of the ECOWAS Audit Committee to the Headquarters of the ECOWAS Regional Competition Authority (ERCA)

Banjul, 18 September 2025 – The Audit Committee of ECOWAS Institutions paid a courtesy visit to the ECOWAS Regional Competition Authority (ERCA) on Wednesday, 18 September 2025, on the sidelines of its meeting in Banjul, The Gambia.

The delegation, led by the Chairperson of the Committee, Mrs Diane Holo-Sacramento, and the Auditor General of ECOWAS Institutions, Mr João Alage Mamadu Fadiá, was welcomed by the Director of Administration and Finance, accompanied by ERCA staff members, in the absence of the Executive Director, who is currently on an official mission outside The Gambia.

Discussions focused on the Authority’s monitoring framework for administrative, financial, and technical procedures, with particular attention to compliance with ECOWAS management rules and the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to review ERCA’s achievements, assess existing internal control mechanisms, and highlight ongoing efforts to ensure the rigorous, transparent, and effective management of Community resources.

ERCA reaffirmed its commitment to full cooperation with the ECOWAS Audit Committee and to implementing its recommendations, with a view to strengthening accountability and fostering a culture of good governance within regional institutions.
