ERCA Council Convenes in Accra for 7th Statutory Session to Chart 2026-2027 Activities and Advance Institutional Reforms

The Council of the ECOWAS Regional Competition Authority (ERCA) opened its 7th Statutory Session today in Accra, bringing together Council members and the Secretariat to set the Authority’s direction for the coming year. The two-day session, running from 16 to 17 October 2026, will focus on three priorities. Council members will first review the proposed activities of the Council for the 2026-2027 period, building on the activities identified at earlier strategic meetings. They will then consider proposed operational and administrative reforms aimed at ensuring the Council functions effectively in line with its mandate.

Opening the session, the Executive Director of ERCA, Dr Simeon Koffi, thanked Council members for their guidance and leadership. “This session allows the Council and the Secretariat to take stock of what we have achieved together and to agree the activities that will carry ERCA through 2026 and 2027”. He said.

The Chairperson of the Council, Dr. Juliette Twumasi-Anokye welcomed members and set out the expectations for the meeting. She added that: “This session comes at an important moment for the Council. We have a full agenda, from our work plan for the year ahead to reforms that will help this Council deliver on its mandate and a proposal that responds directly to the concerns of the businesses we serve. I count on every member to engage fully so that we leave Accra with clear decisions.”

The session will close on 17 October with the review and adoption of the meeting report, followed by final remarks from the Executive Director and the Chairperson.
