Monrovia, Liberia — 5 November 2025

A delegation from the ECOWAS Regional Competition Authority (ERCA), led by its Executive Director, Dr. Simeon Konan Koffi, paid a courtesy and acquaintance visit to the Minister of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Liberia, Honourable Magdalene Ellen Dagoseh, at the Ministry’s headquarters in the Ministerial Complex, Congo Town, Monrovia.

The meeting, which took place in a cordial and cooperative atmosphere, was attended by the Deputy Ministers in charge respectively of Commerce, Industry and SMEs, senior officials of the Ministry, the Chairperson of the ERCA Council, Dr. Juliette Twumasi Anokye, five members of the Council and the two members of the ECOWAS Competition Consultative Committee (CCC), Mr. Saye Domason Gbeakeh and Mr. Alvin S. Geah, who represent Liberia in this Committee.

The visit formed part of ERCA’s ongoing engagement with ECOWAS Member States to strengthen collaboration and support the implementation of regional competition and consumer protection frameworks. It also provided an opportunity for the ERCA leadership to formally meet the Honourable Minister following her appointment and to reaffirm ECOWAS’s commitment to Liberia’s efforts in promoting fair competition and consumer welfare.

In her opening remarks, Dr. Juliette Twumasi Anokye, Chairperson of the ERCA Council, expressed appreciation to the Honourable Minister for the warm reception and reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Liberia. She commended the Government’s efforts to promote fair competition and consumer protection and emphasised that ERCA remains a reliable partner in supporting Liberia’s drive toward a competitive, fair, and inclusive economy. Dr. Koffi acknowledged Liberia’s progress in drafting the Bill establishing the Liberia Competition and Consumer Protection Authority, describing it as a significant step toward strengthening the country’s legal and institutional framework for market regulation. He assured the Honourable Minister of ERCA’s readiness to provide technical and institutional support to the Government of Liberia in finalising and implementing the Bill.

In her remarks, Honourable Magdalene Ellen Dagoseh welcomed the ERCA delegation and reaffirmed Liberia’s commitment to deepening cooperation with ECOWAS institutions. • The Cement Market Survey and other initiatives aimed at promoting fair market practices in Liberia.

Both sides agreed to continue close collaboration in these areas, with ERCA pledging ongoing technical assistance and policy dialogue support
