The Executive Director of ERCA Dr. Simeon K. KOFFI received a delegation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) led by Dr. Ouattara WAUTABOUNA Executive Director of the West Africa Constituency at the ECOWAS Regional Competition Authority in Banjul on Wednesday 3rd September 2025.
The visit was within the framework of the tour of the region by Dr. WAUTABOUNA following his appointment of to the prestigious position of Executive Director of IMF West Africa Constituency.
In his welcome address, Executive Director ERCA on behalf of the President of ECOWAS Commission thanked Dr. WAUTABOUNA and delegation for the visit and gave them a brief background about the establishment and mandate of ERCA as a specialised Agency of ECOWAS.
He explained to the delegation the importance of regulation on competition and consumer protection and how exploring wider and stronger collaborative actions on a free and fair competitive environment can positively impact trade and investment opportunities in our region.
Dr. WAUTABOUNA thanked the Executive Director for the welcome and expressed appreciation for the visit to ERCA in Banjul, following on the heels of similar visit to the ECOWAS President in Abuja.
The delegation engaged in Interactive discussions on the operational activities of ERCA and how the Agency collaborates with other National and continental bodies in competition and consumer protection matters
