Tenth Session of the ERCA Council: Strategic Decisions to Strengthen Competition Governance in the ECOWAS Region

The ERCA Council is currently meeting in Abidjan from 7 to 11 April 2026, with a clear mandate: to advance competition governance and safeguard the interests of consumers across the ECOWAS region. The meeting served as a platform to reaffirm the Authority’s commitment to principled, evidence-based decision-making that inspires confidence in regional markets.

In their discussions, Council members underlined the necessity of precise market definitions, high-quality data, and rigorous documentation as the foundation for credible assessments. A strong call was made to the Executive Directorate to invest in enhanced analytical tools and elevate reporting standards, ensuring that ERCA continues to set the benchmark for competition policy in West Africa.
